NCISG Commander Visit at 1NSB on 30 August 2024

WESEL, Germany – NCISG Commander Major General Jürgen Brötz made an impactful visit to the 1st NATO Signal Battalion (1NSB) on August 30, 2024 to highlight the importance of collaboration and exchange of expertise in deployable Communication and Information Systems (CIS).  

During the visit, the NCISG Commander held insightful discussions with 1NSB’s leadership, addressing key deployable CIS challenges faced by the battalion. This collaboration aimed to enhance protocols and the overall efficiency of CIS operations. The Commander emphasized the critical role of 1NSB in ensuring the safety of military personnel, assets, and NATO security infrastructure.

The visit included a comprehensive tour of 1NSB facilities, where Major General Brötz observed live demonstrations of advanced CIS systems and tactics employed by the 1NSB. Key highlights included briefings on CIS technologies and cybersecurity initiatives, all designed to protect the base from both physical and digital threats.

In his address to 1NSB personnel, Major General Brötz praised their unwavering dedication and excellence in service. He commended the battalion’s pivotal role in safeguarding the NATO's CIS interests, expressing confidence in their ability to meet evolving challenges. 

During the visit, an additional ceremony was held to award distinguished members of the 1NSB the NATO Meritorious Service Medal and two British medals for long and distinguished service.
