NATO Polish Independence Run organized by the NATO Force Integration Unit Poland with the participation of NCISG 3rd NATO Signal Battalion

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland – 150 soldiers, sailors and airmen from the NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU) Poland and NCISG 3NSB participated in a  5 km run, organized together with the International Airport of Bydgoszcz ”Ignacy Jan Paderewski” on November, 6, 2024.

Whilst the Polish Independence Day is celebrated annually on the 11th of November, commemorating the restoration of Poland's sovereignty as the Second Polish Republic, the run was organized a couple of days prior. The day, Poland liberated itself from the German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian Empires in 1918 remains a crucial part of Poland’s history. The Country re-emerged after 123 years of non-existence, following the partitions agreed between the central Empires in the late 18th century.

The running event, organised by the NFIU Poland in cooperation with the Airport Management Team led by Ms. Monika Mejsner-Hermelin, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, was an excellent opportunity to not only demonstrate the cohesion and brotherhood between different allied countries. Furthermore it underlined the strong partnership between the military and key civilian entities such as the Airport, highlighting the fact, that Bydgoszcz, is truly a home to important NATO entities.

Capt. (Navy) Jarosław Kutka, the Commander of NATO Force Integration Unit Poland, stated:

Poland Independence Day celebrated on 11th November is a significant national holiday marking the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty. Great to see the representatives from Alliance who work closely together on shared priorities such as maintaining peace and security and defending the rules-based international order. I extend the best wishes to everyone celebrating Poland’s National Independence Day
