MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL AND SACEUR AWARD CEREMONY

MONS, Belgium – on Monday, 1 July 2024, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Christopher G. Cavoli presented a number of awards to military and civilian staff from the NATO Communication and Information Systems Group (NCISG) and other entities in a ceremony held in the Montgomery Auditorium at the SHAPE Campus.  

The SACEUR, General Cavoli honoured the outstanding achievements for the alliance of ten staff members of the NCISG. The Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) was awarded to OF-5 Scott Weed, OF-3 Jacek Warcaba, OR-9 Simeon Borisov, OR-9 Wlodzimierz Bucholski and OR-9 Christian Heimanns.

The SACEUR Recognition Award was presented to the former commander of the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion, OF-4 Ben Schneller, as well as to OF-2 Yalpi, B-4 Mark Crompton, OR-9 David Wensink and OR-7 Adam Wilson.

All these recognitions were given in acknowledgment of exceptional service and contributions to the NATO and NCISG mission. Their personal dedication and exemplary performance have significantly enhanced the effectiveness and success of NCISG operations, showcasing the highest standards of professionalism and commitment.

The Meritorious Service Medal recognizes meritorious service on the basis of a single, particularly important achievement, while the SACEUR Recognition Award was established to recognize exceptional service and outstanding individual achievement. The SACEUR award is the senior Allied Command Operations award honouring personnel serving for NATO within ACO.
