25th NATO CIS GROUP COMMANDERS CONFERENCE

MONS, Belgium – The Commander of the NATO CIS Group (NCISG), Major General Jürgen Brötz conducted the 25th NCISG Commander’s Conference, which was hosted at SHAPE from 9 – 11 December 2024.  

The NCISG Commander’s Conference is a bi-annual event that is attended by the leadership of NCISG. It includes senior staff from the NCISG Headquarters in Mons, Commanders and leadership elements of the three NATO Signal Battalions (NSB), Commanders of the 18 Deployable CIS Modules (DCM), as well as their respective Senior Enlisted Leaders, bringing together the top NCISG military and strategic leaders. 

The 25th Commanders’ Conference brought together the Commanders and Deputy Commanders as well as the Command Senior Enlisted Leaders of the three NATO Signal Battalions, together with the senior staff of NCISG HQ, to discuss key issues, review ongoing operations in order to chart a path for the future.

The opening day focused on an in-depth review of the current challenges and provided Commanders with the opportunity to present their own perspectives during their updates to ongoing operations. Commander NCISG, Major General Brötz emphasized the need for a unified approach and highlighted the increasing complexity of modern threats. 

The second day was dedicated to modernization. Commanders debated the integration of new, innovative and disruptive technologies into current operations with a focus on training requirements. 

The final day concluded with strategy sessions aimed at shaping the NCISG’s long-term vision. The Conference ended with a clear milestones and actionable goals to enhance operational readiness.
