Wesel, Germany – Lieutenant Colonel Michael Paul relinquished command of the 1^st NATO Signal Battalion to Lieutenant Colonel Christian Arendt on Friday, 24 November 2023 during a Change of Command Ceremony presided over by Major General Frank Schlӧsser, COM NCISG.  

The Change of Command ceremony took place at Schill Kaserne, Wesel, in the presence of over 100 invited guests including Lieutenant General Michael Vetter, Director General Cyber/IT and Chief Information Officer for the German Ministry of Defence and Ms. Ulrike Westkmap, Mayor of Wesel. Members of 1NSB took part in the parade.

The ceremony included the exchange of both Bundeswehr DDO/DtA (Senior National Representative) and 1^st NATO Signal Battalion colours. The 1^st NSB was awarded Operational Colours for support to Operation Allied Solace and Resolute Support MISSION in Afghanistan.

At the end of the ceremony gifts were presented to the outgoing 1^st NSB Commander. The 1^st NATO Signal Battalion wishes Lieutenant Colonel Michael Paul every success in his new role as a tutor at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College (Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr) in Hamburg.
