CHANGE OF RESPONSIBILITY CEREMONY

MONS, Belgium – on 24 August 2022, Chief Master Sergeant Andreas Merz formally took over the duties and responsibilities of the NCISG Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) during a ceremony hosted by Major General Frank Schlӧsser, Commander of the NATO CIS Group (NCISG).

In attendance were also the NCISG Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff (DCOM/COS), NCISG Division Heads, NATO Signal Battalions' (NSBs) Commanders and CSELs, as well as other NCISG officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Frank Schlӧsser said:

Chief Master Sergeant Merz is perfectly prepared for the CSEL position at NCISG. He has the career background, as well as the operational experience, gained in Afghanistan and Bosnia Herzegovina, that will surely help him relate to the NCOs working in the Headquarters and in the NSBs. Additionally, he has international experience gained within the Defence Attache's Office and the German Embassy at Tel Aviv in Israel

Chief Master Sergeant Andreas Merz was assigned to NCISG from the George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

As CSEL, Chief Master Sergeant Andreas Merz will ensure the critical link between the NCOs and the Commander about issues or developments within the Corps. As such, the CSEL will be accountable for the good order and discipline of the Corps and will oversee the welfare, training, and morale of the NCO Corps within the NCISG. He will do so in close cooperation with the NSB Commanders and their CSELs.
