Wesel, Germany – Lieutenant Colonel Torsten Peters relinquished command of the 1st NATO Signal Battalion to Lieutenant Colonel Michael Paul on Monday, 4 October, 2021 during a Change of Command Ceremony presided over by Major General Frank Schlӧsser, COM NCISG and DCOS Cyberspace.

The Change of Command ceremony took place at Schill Kaserne, Wesel, in the presence of invited guests and the members of 1NSB who took part in parade. Lieutenant Colonel Torsten Peters, who had been Commander of the 1st NATO Signal Battalion since 28 September 2018, passed on the baton to his successor, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Paul.

In his farewell speech, Lieutenant Colonel Peters admitted to being sad, because he was leaving a family.

I enjoyed every single day here, I was proud to have been a Commander

He looked back on the past three years as a time that was always exciting and challenging for him; a time during which his soldiers were deployed in Kosovo and Afghanistan and, more recently, during which the pandemic had also presented unusual challenges. In conclusion, Lieutenant Colonel Peters said that everyone had done an exemplary job.

It was a difficult situation, but we managed it well. From the Lower Rhine, it is now off to the big city

Then, Major General Schlӧsser welcomed Lieutenant Colonel Michael Paul.
