MONS, Belgium - Commander of the NATO Communications and Information Systems Group (NCISG), Major General Wolfgang E. Renner, presented a prestigious medal to an NCISG military member on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020.

Captain Gregory Smith, J2/6 Division Head, received the NATO Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) during a small socially-distanced ceremony at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe.

Captain Smith received the award for his vision and proactive approach in supporting the Supreme Allied Commander Europe's Command and Control requirements with Deployable Communications and Information Systems.  

The NATO MSM is awarded for meritorious service in recognition of remarkable service in the interest of the Alliance and is approved by NATO's Secretary General.
