Commander NCISG visits Polish General Staff and Bydgoszcz
MONS, Belgium – The Commander of NATO Communications and
Information Systems Group (NCISG), Major General Wolfgang Renner, visited the
Polish Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) General Staff in Warsaw by invitation on
Monday, Sept. 23, 2019.
The visit provided an opportunity to discuss NATO’s CIS Support to NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battle Group Poland,
possible future NATO Communication and Information Systems (CIS) networks in
the country as well as host nation support to NCISG’s 3rd NATO
Signal Battalion (3 NSB) in Bydgoszcz.
The Polish MOD was represented by Brigadier General Robert Drozd who
joined Major General Renner for a visit to 3 NSB the following day, Tuesday,
Sept. 24.
Major General Renner and Brigadier General Drozd were well received by
Commander 3 NSB, Lieutenant Colonel Michal Klement, who presented the
operations and challenges of his battalion, provided a tour around the
barracks, NSB’s materiel and vehicles, then finishing with a static demo of a
deployable network node, a so called LINC-E.
The visit concluded with an agreement by all three parties to continue
working closely together on facing future common challenges.
